Open Source VPU driver for Allwinner

Open Source VPU driver for Allwinner SOCS, including the H3. I wonder if this has been properly implemented or is the VPU driver used by OrangePi still the closed source blob? This seems to support Mpeg and H264 decoding which means that it could be possible Kodi might work better? Just wanted to st...

Re: Some observations from a UNIX sysadmin

I would be willing to try! I haven't noticed any major slowdowns but I could see some room for improvement. Just let me know what you need me to try and I'll see what I can do. I've been fighting personally with trying to hide the console screen during launch of an emulator, but it seems like this i...

Re: Retrostone 2 is coming soon

If this comes out in a non-GameBoy DMG form, I ain't upgrading, simple as. The form factor was what attracted me to it in the first place, as opposed to its predecessor which is... more horizontal, kinda. I would also be a fan of keeping DMG style if not for the use of Analogue sticks. The current ...

Requested Specifications: Screen Resolution minimum 640x400. This is the minimum functional screen resolution for pretty much everything that might be useable, and it should be relatively simple to downscale to 320x200 for performance improvements on other things. Connectivity: The ethernet function...

Re: Some observations from a UNIX sysadmin

Heat is definitely an issue. I haven't looked at it yet to see what it could take to improve the cooling, but near as I can figure the best solution would be a larger heat spreader with an active cooling solution to encourage airflow out of the case. That would probably resolve the heat issue, thoug...

Re: D-Pad fix please!!

Approximately. I don't have a micrometer to make exact measurements, so someone with more exact measurement tools might be able to get the exact measurements needed. The amount it needs to be raised from the PCB, and lowered from the bottom of the DPad is very small but makes a huge difference. Also...

Re: D-Pad fix please!!

After experimenting with my D Pad, I believe I have figured out the problem. The center pivot for the D-Pad is just a little too short. It needs to be about 1mm taller to make the D-pad stand up from the board a bit more when it's pressed so it doesn't sink into the case as deeply as it does. On the...

Re: Screen protector?

This is an excellent post. I was just thinking of doing this exact same thing yesterday with mine. Thank you for the dimensions!
