Re: Useless CFW for the Retrostone (1)
I've released an update to my CFW, here are the changes : Version 0.2 - Turned all emulators into OPK packages. - Greatly improved boot times. - Fixed issues with FCEUX being configured improperly. - PokeMini now saves in the root directory. I would suggest you upgrade to it and make a copy of your ...

Useless CFW for the Retrostone (1)
Hello guys, i've porting around 10 emulators or so, i've decided to release an initial build of it for the Retrostone. Why make such a CFW when you already have RetrOrangePi ? Well my Useless CFW is more suited for console use and uses GMenu2x as the GUI. Each of the emulators are tweaked and made e...

Re: Open Source VPU driver for Allwinner
We cannot use the upstream linux kernel because upstream does not support composite output, which is what the Retrostone uses. That also means there's no way of using the open source GPU drivers as well as Cedrus, which is responsible for hardware decoding of videos. Retrostone 2 though... Well as s...

Agreed on the downside of disabling udev, you'll see that I noted the controller issue. Actually, disabling udev causes far more problems than with the external controllers. Udev changes the permissions on the frame buffer device (which is required for the GUI to work) and it adjusts ownerships and...

Re: WIP - Opendingux-like CFW for the Retrostone
https://gameblabla.nl/img/retrostone.jpg Alright, so i've ported and worked on a couple more emulators. NGPCEmu is basically my own fork of libretro's beetle neopop, itself based on Mednafen Neopop. It took me like 3 days to have something put together but it works pretty good on the Retrostone and...

It comes to no one's surprise that systemd turns out to be a major CPU hog : this is why i'm sticking with busybox for init and other stuff. Much saner & lightweight. You gonna have a bad time if you try to disable journald as systemd assumes it should be ran all the time. Expect weird crashes o...

Re: WIP - Opendingux-like CFW for the Retrostone
Actually i've realized that it was not my issue : i was pushing the headphone jack too far so it was an issue with my headphone... Tried some earbuds and it sounds pretty loud so second revision units (which should include the metal version) are good it seems as far headphone jack goes. I'm working ...

Re: WIP - Opendingux-like CFW for the Retrostone
Welp, looks like i'll have to bridge the 2 resistors. I thought they had fixed this already for the second revision of the Retrostone but guess not.
Unfortunately there's still a lot to do but i might do another video on it soon.

Re: WIP - Opendingux-like CFW for the Retrostone
https://gameblabla.nl/img/retrostone_cfw_1.jpg https://gameblabla.nl/img/retrostone_cfw_2.jpg I had to redo the Gmenu2x port, especially given that it now got updated for the RS-90 so i thought to switch to that given that GmenuNx's latest versions no longer respect the GPL... In addition to PokeMi...
