I played around with some of the internals and found a way to mod my retrostone to have customizable backlight brightness levels. Here is a blog post about getting it working - hope it inspires others to play around with this great toy!

I am a bit sad now that I spent all of that time and effort getting it working on the RetroStone 1 when I just backed the 2 today. Ah well, t'was a learning experience!

For RetroStone2 this could be convenient as there's currently only a software setting. This thumb wheel would let you change the brightness anytime!
