I think it would be a good idea to address this issue at the Kickstarter platform, there are many many questions at the comment section why the headphone sound is so quiet...
I would second this. While I appreciate that there is a mod, I am quite hesitant to attempt it and risk damaging the retrostone.

Even if I was a little scared tout damage my Retrostone, by taking time (and pray lol) I made it ^^

Yes, to make sure it's clear :
It is actually not a gap at the beginning, but it's small black components (resistors).
It becomes a gap once you remove the resistors. Which is indeed a PROBLEM as the sound cannot pass the gap.
SOLUTION is to bridge with solder as on your picture

For me the headphone jack is very quiet too...
To be honest I have problems to understand and follow this thread.

Do we need to solder in order to fix the volume?? Or is there a software fix for that?

There are two resistors that due to a mistake in the design (or possibly the PCB manufacturing) reduce the signal to almost nothing. You will need to remove those resistors and in their place link their pads together with a small blob of solder.

And no, I'm not doing it either :)

Do we lose our warranty if we do that procedure?

I'm reasonably certain that Pierre said no, but I'd wait for official confirmation if I were you.
