Dpad sensitivity issue

Hey guys.
I just found out that a part of production has a mistake in the placement of the DPAD silicone. Which results in contact being difficult or buttons not responsive ...

If you have such Dpad sensitivity issue then it can easily be fixed as follow :
step 1 : unscrew the 6 screws.
Step 2 : gently lift the front casing, holding down the LCD with the finger. Such that it does not go up with the front casing.
Step 3 : place correctly the dpad silicone. See pictures below :

Step 4 : put all buttons and silicones in the front casing.
Step 5 : Take the back casing + PCB + LCD in your hand and bring it down on the front casing. First put the LCD in it's socket. Then holding the PCB and back casing together bring them down on top. Make sure the speaker go in correctly.
Step 6 : Screw back

Sorry about this issue...

Hello Pierre,

Wow I was really thinking that it came from emulators, my left direction was not totally responding (let's say 8/10).
As you can see this happen also on clear case (I take this picture just have open the Retrostone) :

And now, tadaaa, it works 10/10 !
It was really easy to do, if you take your time and open it slowly you just have to change the dpad silicone integration and close it. Take me less than 1 minute.

Big thanks for the update !

(oh btw is there any way I get the little colored button kit ?)

Thanks, that has fixed my D-Pad. It's still a bit clicky but I suspect it will soften over time. Also took the opportunity to add a small amount of blu-tack to the speaker - it was resonating on the case previously, and now it no longer does :)

Thanks for that!

@Darkam yes of course send me an email with your backer number at hello@8bcraft.com and i'll have one sent to you.

Sorry guys about this, you should not have to do that! I'll try to upload a video about it asap.

Next retrostones will ship with this corrected of course. We have not detected this problem because even in the wrong position it works correctly on most retrostones.

Awesome! I actually accepted the need to press harder as a fact. Now I corrected it and this feels like a free upgrade!

Hi Pierre,

It seems I have this issue too.

What kind of screwdriver do I need ? Or what is the kind of screw used ?

I don't manage to unscrew the case with those I have and I don't want to damage screws.

Thank you.

Excellent turned that around and DPAD works far better now, especially the left direction!

You can use a philips screw driver (the cross type of screwdriver) with a dimater of 3mm. Using a too small screwdriver can damage the screw. A too big will not fit in the hole.

D-pad left button not working properly

I got my retropie today. Just getting into it
Noticed that the left d-pad button needs to be pressed very hard for it to activate. Where the other ones can be pressed normally.
It makes it difficult to play games properly because im it doesn't press properly most of the time.

Wondering if there's anything I can do to fix the problem?
