Plugin in the LCD screen

Post by Indy »

Hi,

I just tried to assemble the Raspiboy following these 2 tutorials:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_cont ... 2ZsJX6UcY4
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AuAiNb14soc

But my LCD connector appears to be different to the one shown in the videos. There is no way to secure the cable. - It just keeps falling out. Here is an image:

The black handle bar is much smaller than in the videos and apparently does nothing. What am I supposed to do to fix the cable?

Same problems here. Have no idea how it works and dare not push to hard.
Did you manage to figure it out?

I’m having the same problem. I’ve put it all together and the screen is just showing as white or not at all and I think it’s to do with this. The black lock flap isn’t holding anything. Very disappointed because I can’t use my raspiboy unless I plug it into my tv with hdmi. I could have spent a lot less money and had the same outcome if I just wanted to play on my tv :x

Hey guys,

Sorry about that the LCD connector model changed and I did not changed video yet.

Please check the assembly tutorial : https://www.8bcraft.com/assembly-tutorial/

There is a picture in the important notes about the new connector for LCD. It has been changed, the black part to lift is reversed but LCD ribbon is going at the same side as before.

The black part should be pushed down. It can be bit difficult to close, I would suggest you use thumb (or both thumb) fingernail to close it.

I managed to secure the cable. I think it is worth mention in the tutorial that it is hard and you need to do it firmly.
For me, it helped having a friend. One could hold the screen and the other just focus on pushing the handle.

Thank you Pierre. I needed to be a bit tougher with the clip to hold it in place. All sorted now and very happy.
