Questions for Admin

Hi all,

1. What is the purpose of the button with the lightning symbol? I thought it was to check battery level, but this doesn’t happen at all? In fact the button appears dead to be honest.

2. Low battery second LED didn’t come on, and the unit died mid wireless rom transfer. Is the PCB defective?

Really wish this forum was more active 😢, so much community potential.

All help and answers greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Daniel

HI,
A GPIO is a general purpose input/output. It’s a hardware general input/output. With the lightening button, when you press the button the CPU can read that you pressed it. So you can run a python script for example when it is pressed.
One example of thing you can do with it is to make a “soft shutdown script” meaning that when you press it, it launches a script that will tell raspiboy to turn off.

See here for soft shutdown tutorial : viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1616
Thanks,
Sakib

Hi Daniel,

The low battery LED do not turn on before shutdown? Was it only once or is it everytime? If it was only once can you check if it is happening again?

About the full charge led not coming up, some chargers have been reported to charge very slowly for a unknown reason. Can you try with another charger and feedback if you still don't ahve full battery indicator after 8 hours of charge? Minimum A rating for charger is 1.5A if unit is off and 2A if unit is ON.

After charging 8 hours what battery life do you have? To check if battery is charging.

Hi Pierre,

Thanks for replying.

The low battery light finally came on yesterday after around three hours of use, it’s the first time it has worked, all other times the unit just performed a hard shutdown.

As for the fully charged LED, still no luck. I have tried different plug and charging cables all for over 8 hours and still no joy. The reverse of the unit gets warm only for a short time. I wish there was a way to check battery percentage as without this feature or the fully charged led working, it’s very hard to know whether it’s fully charging or not.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Daniel

Hi Daniel,
If you still have this issue then it might need to replace the main board.

It's difficult to check the battery voltage because there are no connection between CPU and battery. It would need to add a ADC chip like MCP3208.

Future products will include that as it's indeed not very convenient

Hi Pierre,

I am having difficulties opening the tickets section through the website. Could you please arrange for the replacement PCB from your end?

Thanks,

Daniel
