Overheating ?

Post by racast »

Hi guys,

I have some concerns about the heat dissipation. I've only played with the gameboycolor emulator but it seems that the cpu slows down because of the heat. Games seems to be more responsive when I play outside in the cold. Furthermore, the the screen doesn't become warm/hot while playing. I haven't opened it yet and I don't manage to know if there is a heat sink over the A20.

I would like to know if some people has the same issue.

There should be a heat sink, though I will ask confirmation from the factory. Also the board should dissipate the heat pretty well through the ground and power copper layers.

Are you using the last beta?

Also what game are you using just for reference?

Can you please check your CPU temperature by doing the following :
- connect usb keyboard
- press F4
The cpu temp should be writen on the console screen.
To go back to emulation station press Ctrl+D

I’m just wondering what is normal? I have no problem but the heat number is in red. I’m at around 56 degrees celsius.

50-70° is usual. Above 80° is more problematic.
