Powering on & Sleep

Post by mfessenden »

I received the RS2 yesterday and have had good luck with it so far, except for figuring out how to power it on. Tapping or long-pressing the power button doesn't do anything. The only thing that works for me is plugging in the console and pressing the power button.

Also, if I put the system to sleep I get the same problem.. I'm not actually sure the unit is asleep, it appears to be powered off completely.

The system can run without the power cable once it has booted?

Can you try, removing the battery, putting it back in. Then press for 2s the ON/OFF button. Then it does not turn ON?
About putting the system to sleep, what do you mean exactly?

Yes, it runs fine once booted.

To sleep or shutdown the unit, I press the START button to bring up the ROPI 4.3 RC menu, then choose Sleep Mode, or choose Quit > Shutdown System. I didn't know that there's not a sleep function, the unit appears to be shut down either way.

If I remove the battery, I can't power the unit on with the ON/OFF button. I have to plug it in for it to boot. Sometimes the unit does power on after being shutdown, but usually I have to press the ON/OFF button for upwards of 30 seconds or more.

Please don't use the sleep function for now. It's default setting of Retrorangepi, but we have not checked how it behaves with RetroStone2 yet. So best is to just use the shutdown.
I think when you sleep the unit, then you actually hard-shutdown the unit when you try to power it back up (hardshutdown is pressing button for 6s) then you boot it again.

Removing the battery make sure the system is totally shutdown. Because in the case you make the device sleep, then the system may just be asleep. Removing and putting back battery make sure system is reseted completely.
