How to epand the file system to make use of full space i backed up my 32gb image and burned it to a 64gb card how would i reclaim the free space now?

Maybe you could use gparted? I don't know if it's already installed on the RetrorangPi, in case it is not just type "sudo apt-get install gparted" on any terminal.
Then I guess it would be available in desktop mode, and here you would launch it and manage your disk.
